Based on findings in a November, 1989 report, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners succeeded the rights, duties, functions and obligations of the Pelican Bay Improvement District on June 19, 1990 by enacting Resolution 1990-335.

December 18, 1990

The Collier County Board of County Commissioners created the Pelican Bay Municipal Service Taxing and Benefit Unit & advisory committee on December 18, 1990 by enacting Ordinance 1990-111.

The Pelican Bay Municipal Service Taxing and Benefit Unit was created to provide extraordinary services to Pelican Bay, including street lighting maintenance, water management, extraordinary law enforcement, beautification of recreation facilities, sidewalk, street and median areas, and maintenance of conservation or preserve areas.

The Advisory Committee was designed to "aid, assist and provide input to the Collier County Manager and the Collier County Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the purposes of the Pelican Bay Municipal Service Taxing and Benefit Unit" as set forth in Ordinance 90-111.

The Collier County Board of County Commissioners, acting as the Commission succeeding to the principal functions of the Pelican Bay Improvement District dissolved and revoked the charter of the Pelican Bay Improvement District on March 5, 1991 in accordance with the adopted Resolutions 1991-216 and 1991-217, and Plan of Dissolution.

The Pelican Bay Services Division, a division of Collier County government, was created to administer and perform the extraordinary services provided by the Pelican Bay Municipal Service Taxing and Benefit Unit.
